Finding the Right Direction in Life

If we don't find the right direction in life, we can't be successful because we cannot make the right decisions. For example, we can be a mediocre engineer instead of being a good teacher or we can marry someone who is not suitable.

To find our direction in the life journey, we need something like a star that we can never reach, but we can pursue. What can it be? I think the best answer is a mission. So, we can say that we should find our personal mission in life to find the right direction in life.

How can we find our mission in life? As a believer in God and fate, I  think the Holy Creator must have set our personal mission. Why do I think like that? Because we have different natural talents, enjoyments, and values.  I think the reason for that is God gave us appropriate characteristics to perform our personal mission in the best way. Therefore if we analyze our characteristics, we can find our mission in life. In other words, we need to examine our natural talents, enjoyments, and values to find our personal mission.

To give you an example, I'm going to tell my story. I'm a curious person. I enjoy discovering and developing something. Also, I was good at math. So I thought I should be an engineer. I started to study electrical and electronics engineering. But I couldn't be successful, and I began questioning my career selection. I have a talent for speaking, and I'm a good-looking person. These characteristics are not important for an engineer. Also, I don't enjoy solving mathematical problems, but I enjoy helping people to solve problems. Furthermore, making a contribution is more important than earning a lot of money for me. Finally, I realized that I should develop people instead of machines and I found my personal mission to make myself and other people better.

After finding my personal mission in life, I decided to be a teacher as a suitable occupation for my mission. First, I thought about being a physics teacher. But I couldn't dare to be a physics teacher. Because around that time, some educational institutions had been closed in Turkey, and I feared becoming unemployed. Fortunately, several years later, and after a serendipitous event, I found the perfect occupation for me.

In my next blog article, I'm going to write how I found the perfect occupation for me as an example of how we can choose the right way in life.

Thank you for reading and see you!.. 👋
